Faculty from Brewton-Parker College’s Education Division recently presented four scholarly papers at the 34th Annual Meeting of the Georgia Educational Research Association (GERA) at the Coastal Georgia Center in Savannah. The process for papers to be accepted for presentation involved a rigorous double-blind review process which ensured the quality of the scholarly work selected.
Dr. Yunfang (Molly) Zhou presented a paper entitled, “What Diversity Means to Me: Exploration of the Impact of a Diversity Course on Pre-Service Teachers at a Small Private College.”
Dr. David W. Moffett and Dr. Zhou presented a second paper entitled, “Cooperating Teacher Evaluation Inflation of Candidates in Clinical Practice and Field Experience.”
The third paper was presented by Dr. Moffett, Dr. Zhou, and Professor Barbara Reid and was entitled, “Reliability Realized! Year Two of Clinical Practice Candidates Applying Action Research.”
A fourth paper entitled, “Unit Outcomes Have to be Somewhere But They Don’t Have to be Everywhere,” was presented by Professor Reid, Professor Skye Jordan, Professor Pat Mercer, Dr. Brandi DeLoach, and Dr. Susan White.
Dr. David W. Moffett, Chair of the Education Division, said, “It was quite an honor for our faculty to have so many scholarly papers accepted by GERA.” No other college the size of Brewton-Parker had so many papers accepted for presentations and professors represented at the annual educational research meeting.” He added, “It goes to show that great things are happening in our teacher education unit at the college.”
In all there were 120 participants at the annual meeting, representing colleges and universities from 12 states.
Brewton-Parker College is the only accredited four-year Christian college in south Georgia.
